Artist Statement

Twelve years ago, my journey as a painter shifted from creating realistic landscapes to exploring the endless possibilities of abstract painting. Looking back, the first ten years were a period of building a visual language—a "database" of techniques and textures. During that time, I created thousands of paintings, experimenting with everything from delicate washes and watery drops to butterfly-like strokes and the thick buildup of pigment. Each piece became an exploration of how different combinations of colors and application methods could interact visually on the canvas.

In the past two years, I’ve drawn on this visual database and the physical process of painting to infuse my work with intensity and energy. My goal is to translate these dynamic actions into a painterly language that captivates the viewer. I want each person to be drawn into my paintings, exploring every square inch for a rich and immersive experience.

" The paintings are defined by the thinned down washes, waterly drops, the butterfly strokes and the thick build up of the pigment. "

" These procedures and the physical dynamic which accompany these actions create an intesity which is transferred to the pictorial field as painterly language. "

" I want the viewer to be swept away in exploring each square inch of the painting. "
